Questions run in our mind at the mention of ‘Look like Christ’. As Christians, it is our duty follow the ways of Christ and to live as He lived. Looking like Christ does not refer to the physical appearance, but to follow Jesus in all aspects of our lives. We follow Christ so as to be living a life that is a blessing as he was while on earth and to receive blessings of obedience from the King of kings. The journey of looking like Christ is not an easy one. It has got its good days and bad days. One of the greatest encounters is striving to look like Jesus. It begins at what you understand by ‘to look like Jesus’.
Let us dig into the Scripture of Galatians 5.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self control: against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23, NIV)
The reading shows us the meaning of looking like Jesus in all areas of our lives –actions, words and thoughts. The question is, does what we say, think and do show love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and gentleness. If your answer is no, then they are not of the Holy Spirit then it is not of being like Christ. When we allow the Holy Spirit to control our lives, we shall then bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit. These fruits catalyze us to being fruitful beings on earth.
The fruits of the Holy Spirit are a sign of powerful life traits that are able to transform every aspect of our lives and relationships we have with others, and prosperity will be with us always.
We need to uphold the fruits of the Holy Spirit as standards to live by since they are the traits that we need to rejoice in as Christ followers. In this journey, may the Lord transform our hearts and lead us to follow these standards in our daily lives. It is my hope and prayer that the Lord may guide us in our lives to live for Him.
