friendship-wallpapers-hd-download-15-600x375.jpgWhen I was a young girl I grew up along with boys; we played together every day in and out of school. From hide and seek to playing with dolls and cars, hunting and my favourite climbing trees. Yes I did. I recall how much of a hustle it was climbing trees but at the top the view was breath-taking; mostly as the sun sets. Climbing up the tree would at times need group effort in going up and coming down would also need someone’s help depending on the nature of the tree. In the process I also experienced some “friends” pulling me down to ground either by saying discouraging phrases like girl cannot climb a tree while others cheered me all the way.

This is my story yours may be different. What am I driving at?

In life, there are low moments and high moments. As you go up the ladder – be it in your spiritual life, career, family life and social life too – there are those on the bench burning. They are burning of negative feelings; hatred and jealousy. They are skimming ways to pull you down from the seat and to the floor. They might have been friends at one time but later, they are not those that we thought they were. Such are wolves hiding under sheep skin.

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. 3When Herod the king had heard [these things], he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. 4And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. 5And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, 6And thou Bethlehem, [in] the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.7Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.8And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found [him], bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. 9When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. 10When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. 11And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. 12And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. (Matthew 2:1-12)

The news of the new king was not pleasing to King Herod’s ears. He pretended to be happy of this news and told the wise men to him so that he too may see the new king. In Herod’s heart he was skimming ways to get him, kill, and destroy and getting rid of the new king so that he may not be replaced. God’s plan was different from that of Herod. The Lord warned the wise men against going back to Herod.  Having a relationship with Jesus Christ, there are great and mighty things coming your way; there is abundant life and there will be the people who are not rejoicing with you. That should not be your concern for the Lord shall shutter those evil plans and divide them. They will be null and void.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have LIFE, and that they may have it ABUNDANTLY. ( John 10:10)

We should have the Spirit of Jesus Christ within us, the spirit of discernment. The people we engage in our lives (friends and family) need not to steal from us, kill and destroy us. It goes to show that we must seek the spirit of discernment that we make may end up with Herod.

I pray that all those who took time to read this blog post will be encouraged and this information helpful and most of all edifying to their spirit. Be blessed in Jesus name!!!
